Woonsocket YMCA Offers Lifeguard Class to Community
Courses to include American Red Cross certifications in First Aid, CPR and AED
Woonsocket, RI (March 5, 2015) – The Greater Woonsocket YMCA, part of the YMCA of Pawtucket family of branches, is offering lifeguard certification classes beginning Monday, March 16th. Instruction will be held at the Woonsocket YMCA, 18 Federal Street, Woonsocket.
Classes will include a new blended learning format, where students will complete online learning modules prior to the in-class session. Each class will consist of water training and in-class learning. Students will take the CPR and First Aid tests online, while the remaining written test is completed on the last day of class. Lifeguard candidates must also successfully demonstrate a variety of skills during a pre-course test.
“We are excited to offer this important training and the possibility of a great job opportunity, not just for the summer but year round,” said Diane Martin, Senior Program Director.
Classes will take place on Monday, March 16th from 3 – 9 p.m.; Wednesday, March 18th, 3 – 9 p.m.; Thursday, March 19th, 6 – 9 p.m.; Friday, March 20th, 3 – 9 p.m.; and Saturday, March 21st, 12 – 4:30 p.m.
Participants do not require any previous experience. Each student is asked to bring a bathing suit, towel, snack, notebook and pen or pencil. Attendance to all classes is mandatory. The cost for YMCA members is $225, and $275 for non-members. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.
