NEWS RELEASE

Concord, NH (December 1, 2014) – The New Hampshire Association of Insurance Agents (NHAIA), the state’s predominant association of insurance agents, announced this week that Christopher Nicolopoulos of Bow has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization effective December 1st Nicolopoulos succeeds Bob Nash, who announced his retirement in October.

Nicolopoulos brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the field of insurance, specifically with regard  to legislation and litigation. He most recently served as an associate at Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau and Pachios, PLLP, a regional law firm with offices throughout New England. In that capacity, he represented the American International Group, CNA Insurance, and National Council on Compensation Insurance for many New Hampshire regulatory issues. Additionally, he has drafted legislation and regulations which have since been adopted by the New Hampshire legislature and the New Hampshire Insurance Department.

As President and Chief Executive Officer of NHAIA, Nicolopoulos will manage the association with a focus on the enhancement of relationships with agent members.  He will also serve as NHAIA’s chief lobbyist, acting  as an advocate on state and federal legislation affecting insurance agencies and small business as a whole.

“Chris is the ideal candidate to assume the role of NHAIA President and Chief Executive Officer and I extend to him my heartfelt good wishes,” said Nash.  “He is highly-skilled in government affairs and advocacy, which has steadfastly become a critical component in navigating the ever-changing insurance marketplace.  His lobbying and legislative acumen will serve the association well – now and into the future.”

Nicolopoulos believes his professional background and knowledge of the insurance profession will help him to build upon the positive reputation of the association: “I’m thrilled to assume this role and I  look forward to carrying forward  the  excellent work of  Bob Nash”  Nicolopoulos said.  “By working closely with our agent members, we will maintain a visible presence at the State House, staying at the forefront on all legislative issues affecting our members and their policyholders.”

Prior to joining Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau and Pachios, Nicolopoulos spent five years as Director of Government Affairs for the New Hampshire Association of Realtors.  Prior to that, he was in-house counsel to the Greater Boston Real Estate Board.
