Newport Athletic Club Announces Spin-A-Thon to Benefit ALS
NEWPORT, RI (March 15, 2016) – Newport Athletic Club will be holding an indoor spin-a-thon on Saturday, March 19th from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. The spin-a-thon will take place at Newport Athletic Club, where participants will spin for two hours at a time, raising money to support finding treatments and a cure for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). All proceeds from this event will benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute (TDI) in Cambridge, MA and the Team Leys Cycling Team.
The fee to register is $35, and there are four time slots available: 8:00 am – 10:00 am; 10:00 am – 12:00 pm; 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm; or 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and participants are not required to be a member of Newport Athletic Club.
The Team Leys Cycling Team is a local group of bicyclists who participate in the ALS TDI Tri-State Trek to raise money in honor of their teammate, David Leys, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2012. The Tri-State Trek is a three-day, 270 mile cycling event that begins at Boston College in Newton, MA, and ends in Greenwich, CT.
