Woonsocket YMCA Announces Splash Week Schedule

Including Healthy Kids Day Celebration Saturday, April 25th

Woonsocket, RI (April 9, 2015) – The Greater Woonsocket YMCA, part of the YMCA of Pawtucket family of branches, has announced its Splash Week swim lessons schedule.  As a leader in aquatic programming, the Woonsocket YMCA will offer swim lessons to local youth during school vacation week, April 21st – 24th. The goal of Splash Week is to teach children and families how to be safer in and around the water.

This program is designed specifically for non-swimmers who want to learn proper water safety. There is no cost for members and non-members pay just $5; must pre-register for Splash Week by April 16th. The schedule is as follows: Tuesday, April 21st – Friday, April 24th; ages 3 – 6 years are welcome from 3:00pm – 3:30 pm on those days, while ages 7 – 12 years can join us from 3:45pm – 4:25pm.

To conclude school vacation week, the Woonsocket YMCA will host Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 25th from 10am – 2pm. This free community event aims to help families maintain healthy habits through fun and engaging activities. Complimentary classes will be held throughout the day and are as follows:

Water Safety:
Ages 6 – 10 years 10:00am – 10:35am
Ages 11 & up 10:45 am – 11:20am

Zumba Fitness:
Adults Only – 10:00am

Pilates:
Adults Only – 11:30am

Aqua Sports:
Ages 9 – 15 years 11:45am – 12:30pm

Open Swim:
For members and nonmembers from 12:45pm – 1:45 pm.
Parents must accompany children in pool area.
Under 6 years old, parents must accompany children in the water.

Summer camp registrations will also be accepted during Healthy Kids Day and a special one-day promotion will be offered. Register your child for camp during Healthy Kids Day and receive a free camp t-shirt.  Additionally, individuals who pay for one-week of camp in advance will receive a free camp bag.

I also encourage families to take advantage of the fun activities being offered during Healthy Kids Day, including our Summer Camp registration special.”
