Community Fund Grants to be Awarded at the Annual Cocktail Celebration
NEWPORT, RI (November 1, 2016) – The Newport County Development Council is excited to announce the winners of the Community Fund grants. Applications, which were received earlier this month, were reviewed and discussed by the council. Recipients this year include The Samaritans of Rhode Island, Lucy’s Hearth and The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island. Each organization will be awarded $400 to be used towards their goals of assisting those in need.
“We believe these local non-profits exemplify dedication to our community,” said Erin Donovan-Boyle, Executive Director of the Newport County Chamber. “This fund is intended to support these organizations as they work to strengthen Newport County and Rhode Island.”
The Newport County Development Council is the non-profit 501c3 arm of the Chamber, whose mission is to assist the Newport County Chamber of Commerce in identifying, developing, operating, funding and supporting projects that stimulate commerce and trade in Newport County, Rhode Island. The Community Fund was established by the chamber’s Ambassador Committee to recognize the critical role non-profit members play in building and sustaining a healthy community. Grants are limited to non-profit organizations that have been a member in good standing with the Newport County Chamber of Commerce for at least one year. Last year’s recipients included Save the Bay, the Norman Bird Sanctuary and the Visiting Nurses Association.
