University Orthopedics Gains New Orthopedic Surgeon
Eric M. Cohen, M.D. joins University Orthopedics
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (June 22, 2018) – University Orthopedics has announced that Eric M. Cohen, M.D. has joined the growing practice as an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Cohen’s extensive research and experience in orthopedic surgery will help University Orthopedics continue to raise the standard of orthopedic medicine.
Dr. Eric M. Cohen is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult reconstruction surgery of the hip and the knee. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. He then completed an orthopedic residency and hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Lifespan Health System. In addition to his specialized training in hip and knee arthroplasty, Dr. Cohen has completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma.
Dr. Cohen has multiple research interests including those in orthopedic trauma and hip and knee replacement surgery. He has volunteered at orthopedic centers throughout the world, teaching and learning about the latest surgical techniques and innovations in direct anterior total hip replacement. Dr. Cohen treats adult hip and knee disorders, hip and knee osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis of the hip and knee, periprosthetic joint infections, periprosthetic fractures, as well as lower extremity fractures.

Dr. Cohen will also join the faculty of the Department of Orthopedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics. Dr. Cohen will treat patients at the Total Joint Center at the Miriam Hospital, at the Rhode Island Hospital, and at all University Orthopedics’ locations.
