American Labor Services Offers Federal Employees Temporary Positions Amidst Longest Government Shutdown in History

PROVIDENCE (January 14, 2019) —As the longest government shutdown in United States history drags on, American Labor Services has stepped up to offer effected federal employees with temporary positions beginning Monday, Jan. 14.

Rhode Island is one of the hardest hit states impacted by the government shutdown, according to an analysis by WalletHub. The personal finance website ranked states numerically, placing the Ocean State at no. 11.

“Friday marked the first day some federal employees did not receive their paycheck. It is, quite frankly, unacceptable for these workers to be struggling with their bills when they perform a public service,” said Ben Kaplan, President of American Labor Services. “I feel it is our responsibility to help these individuals, especially, when there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for the shutdown.”

American Labor works with clients across Rhode Island and Massachusetts to fill clerical positions as well as labor positions in factories and warehouses.

“We have plenty of job opportunities available for workers who need them,” Kaplan said. “These jobs can help put food on the table and help pay utility bills until the federal government reopens.”
