The Chamber’s Development Council Recognizes Contribution of Local Non-Profits

Applications for Community Fund Grant Program Now Being Accepted

NEWPORT, RI (September 28, 2016) – The Newport County Development Council is currently accepting applications for its Community Fund grant program. Applications must be received at the Newport County Chamber of Commerce by close of business on October 7th, 2016.

The Newport County Development Council is the non-profit 501c3 arm of the Chamber, whose mission is to assist the Newport County Chamber of Commerce in identifying, developing, operating, funding and supporting projects that stimulate commerce and trade in Newport County, Rhode Island. The Community Fund was established by the chamber’s Ambassador Committee to recognize the critical role non-profit members play in building and sustaining a healthy community. Each year, the fund awards charitable contributions to outstanding non-profit members. Last year’s recipients included Save the Bay, the Norman Bird Sanctuary and the Visiting Nurses Association.

“We are excited to once again award local non-profits for their commitment to our community,” said Erin Donovan-Boyle, Executive Director of the Newport County Chamber. “This fund was created to showcase how important these organizations are to the vitality of Newport County, and we are pleased to recognize them for their efforts.”

Grants are limited to non-profit organizations that have been a member in good standing with the Newport County Chamber of Commerce for at least one year. Notification of grant recipients will be sent on or before October 21st, with grants to be awarded at the Newport County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Cocktail Celebration on November 4th at Rosecliff in Newport, RI.
