PROVIDENCE, R.I. (March 23, 2020) – After closely following the directives issued by the Governor and the CDC regarding COVID-19, Women’s Fund of Rhode Island (WFRI) has made the decision to alter their activity schedule. Cocktails and Conversations: Politically Engaged Art, scheduled for Thursday, March 26 from 6-8pm, has moved to an online forum via Zoom. In addition, the organization has extended their grant application deadline to Friday, March 27 at 5pm. WFRI will make grants of up to $10,000 to other nonprofit organizations that are addressing issues that impact women and girls in Rhode Island. Lastly, the organization has rescheduled their Women Leading Change Fundraiser to Wednesday, September 30. The event will still be held at the Alpine Country Club in Cranston from 6 to 9 p.m and all guest speakers and awardees have confirmed their availability to attend on the new date. “There will be gendered impacts of the COVID-19 crisis as women get moved further down the list of priorities and are often limited in their powers for decision making. They are also more likely to be on the frontline in caregiving roles that expose them to the virus,” said Executive Director, Kelly Nevins. “We thank everyone in our community who is working on the front lines and behind the scenes in addressing the issues that are arising as a result of the crisis.”
