YMCA of Pawtucket Annual Meeting Recognizes Past Accomplishments and Outlines Plans for Bright Future

Past President Rebecca Book Honored with Spirit Award

Pawtucket, RI (February 1, 2016) – The Pawtucket Country Club was the setting for the 126th Annual Meeting of the YMCA of Pawtucket on January 27, 2016. Sponsored by Navigant Credit Union, this year’s annual meeting focused on the great strides that have been made to improve the lives of those in need. In addition, staff and community members were honored for their tremendous dedication to the Y, and exciting programs and goals for 2016 were highlighted.

Rebecca Book, 2016 Immediate Past President of the YMCA of Pawtucket Board of Directors, was presented with the 2015 Spirit Award in recognition of her dedication and commitment to the YMCA of Pawtucket. Rebecca was instrumental in leading the Y through a time of tremendous transition, and she was honored for her steadfast leadership and fiscal responsibility. The award was presented by Marc Dupuis, 2016 President of the YMCA of Pawtucket Board of Directors.

Additionally, Charlie Clifford, Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of Pawtucket, alongside the managers of each YMCA of Pawtucket branch, recognized several key staff members for their years of service to the Y:

  • 5 Years of Service – Mary Couto (MacColl YMCA), Jessica Galvin (MacColl YMCA), Nicole Batalon (MacColl YMCA), Ryan Simonelli Amado (MacColl YMCA), Emma Gilbert (MacColl YMCA), Emily Katz (MacColl YMCA), Caroline Azar (MacColl YMCA), James Good, Jr. (MacColl YMCA), Quintin Prout (Heritage Park YMCA), Stephanie Rivera (Heritage Park), Vicencia DaCruz (Family YMCA), Debra Souza (Family YMCA)
  • 10 Years of Service – Robin Coggins (MacColl YMCA)
  • 15 Years of Service – Denise Laurens (Heritage Park), Maureen Thistle (Corporate), Peg Tormey (MacColl YMCA), David Beland (Family YMCA)
  • 20 Years of Service – Christy Carrion (Heritage Park YMCA)
  • 25 Years of Service – Patricia Falvey (Westwood YMCA)

“I am very fortunate to be assuming the role of CEO accompanied by the assistance and support of a committed staff and exceptional community partners,” said Charlie Clifford. “These individuals exemplify the values and principles of the Y and I am committed to continuing the tremendous strides that have been made to enhance the health and wellness of our communities.”

Dr. Michael Fine, Health Policy Advisor to Mayor James Diossa, served as Keynote Speaker for the evening. He thanked the YMCA of Pawtucket for their partnership and continued support in helping to develop the nation’s first Neighborhood Health Station in the City of Central Falls.
