PROVIDENCE, R.I. (February 12, 2019) — Homestar Mortgage has hired Thomas Durkin as its newest loan officer as it seeks to expand its growing team of mortgage professionals. A seasoned real estate veteran, Durkin will have a unique perspective about the concerns of home buyers as he works to ensure they have the ideal loan terms for their unique financial situations.

“Thomas is highly skilled in assessing the needs of home buyers due to his former experience as a real estate agent,” said Stephen Tetzner, Vice President of Homestar Mortgage. “We are proud to welcome him to our team, and look forward to seeing how his experience as a realtor and loan officer will help Homestar clients close on their homes quickly.”

Durkin, who has extensive knowledge of FHA, VA, State Housing and conventional mortgage financing options, will be responsible for helping clients obtain mortgages that have their best interests in mind. He takes pride in fully understanding buyer needs, and coming up with novel solutions to eliminate problems during the mortgage process.

“The mortgage process is very sensitive, with plenty of unforeseen issues that can postpone the buying process or entirely prevent a family from moving into their dream home,” Durkin said. “I’ve helped address the most common concerns of families throughout Rhode Island, and I’m excited at the prospect of helping Homestar’s clients achieve homeownership.”

Durkin, a Narragansett resident, has 12 years of experience in the mortgage industry, most recently serving as a loan consultant at South County Mortgage. Prior to those years, he was a realtor at Durkin Cottage Realty for over 20 years.

When Durkin is not volunteering at the R.I. Mentor Program or Clean Ocean Access, he enjoys going to the beach, fishing, and boating with his family.
