Accomplished Surgeon Joins University Orthopedics
University Orthopedics Grows Westerly Team by Hiring Dr. Stephen Gross
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I (Sept. 9, 2019) — Dr. Stephen B. Gross, an orthopedic surgeon with nearly three decades of experience, has joined the team of specialized physicians at University Orthopedics. Dr. Gross’ dedication, experience, and knowledge in the orthopedics specialty will help University Orthopedics reach more patients in need of hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Gross has extensive training in orthopedic care and can treat a variety of muscle, joint, and bone injuries. An advocate for minimally invasive solutions, Dr. Gross developed a reputation for developing effective medical plans that placed patients’ interests first. Through comprehensive approaches to care that encompass solutions such as physical therapy, he has helped countless patients return to their day-to-day activities.

Formerly serving in the U.S. Air Force as an orthopedic surgeon and major, Dr. Gross would later become a partner at Active Orthopedics before becoming the sole owner of Ninigret Orthopedics in Westerly, Rhode Island. He also served as a staff orthopedic surgeon at the Center of Musculoskeletal Care, which is part of the Yale Medicine and Yale New Haven Health system.
Dr. Gross earned his medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, which is consistently ranked as one of the best medical schools in the country. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Gross completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
When Dr. Gross is not performing surgeries, he is helping protect Rhode Island shores with his volunteer efforts at Save the Bay. Dr. Gross resides in Charlestown, Rhode Island, and he will be seeing patients at Westerly Hospital’s Morgan Medical Building, located at 45 Wells St., in Westerly, Rhode Island.
