Chamber to Honor Excellence in Business Award Recipients at 2017 Annual Meeting
InnovateNewport at Sheffield School Update Will Also Be Provided by Scott Gibbs, President of Economic Development Foundation of Rhode Island
NEWPORT, RI (March 22, 2017) – The Newport County Chamber of Commerce will host its 2017 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 26th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at picturesque OceanCliff (65 Ridge Road, Newport).
Sponsored by Savings Institute Bank & Trust, this year’s Annual Meeting will feature a presentation from Scott Gibbs, President of the Economic Development Foundation of Rhode Island. Mr. Gibbs will provide an update on InnovateNewport, a renovation project of the former Sheffield School located on Broadway in Newport. The project will provide a wide range of modern high tech office suites, rooms and meeting spaces for entrepreneurial and established companies.
“Our Annual Meeting is an excellent opportunity to let the community know about all of the achievements of the Chamber over the course of this last year and to lay out our plans for future programs, events and priorities that will benefit the business climate in Newport County. This is also the perfect time to honor our recipients of Excellence in Business awards for their accomplishments and to hear about exciting economic development projects in our area such as the InnovateNewport at Sheffield School project.”
The 2017 Excellence in Business award winners will be also be announced at the Annual Meeting. Sponsored by Carey Richmond & Viking Insurance, the Excellence in Business awards recognize the accomplishments of Chamber members and the vital role they play in the economic well-being of our community. Businesses could be nominated in one of the following categories: Micro Business, Small Business, Big Business, Woman or Minority-Owned Business, and Emerging Leader Business. Award winners will also receive a special feature in The Newport Daily News.
