David Bates Honored by Independent Agents With its Most Prestigious Award

Warwick, RI–October 23, 2013

The Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island (IIARI) honored David Bates, of the A.N. Nunes Agency in Bristol, with the Carleton I. Fisher Outstanding Agent Award at its 113th Annual Meeting held at the Crowne Plaza Warwick.  Mr. Bates is only the ninth person in the history of the award to be bestowed IIARI’s highest and most prestigious honor.

Mr. Bates has served the Association over the years on almost every committee and Board of Directors, as well as President and State National Director to the Board of the Independent Agents & Brokers of America.  He has repeatedly advocated for independent agents while maintaining his agency in Bristol, and continues to support the organization with his committee involvement.

David was honored by the Association at its 113th annual meeting in front of a group of his peers, young agents, insurance company representatives and a number of past presidents.  The award was presented by Roger Messier, the first recipient of the award in 1979.

About Carleton I Fisher

Carleton I. Fisher served IIARI from 1944 to 1947 as president.  Mr. Fisher served on 13 different IIABA committees and represented Rhode Island from 1944 to 1951.
