Regional Conference Highlighting Mortgage Trends and Industry Concerns Comes to Rhode Island
NEWPORT, R.I. (September 5, 2019) — One of the most influential mortgage conferences in the United States is coming to Rhode Island. Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association is one of five mortgage associations hosting this year’s New England Mortgage Bankers Conference (NEMBC). This three-day conference taking place Sept. 11-13 at Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina will bring together industry leaders to discuss timely topics about the mortgage industry and strategies to protect consumers and businesses as recession fears continue to grow.
Other event organizers include the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association, Inc., the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association, the Mortgage Bankers & Brokers Association of New Hampshire, and the Vermont Mortgage Bankers Association.
A special opening gala at OceanCliff Hotel and Resort in Newport, Rhode Island, will kick off the regional conference on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Highlights at NEMBC 2019 include technology exhibitions, discussions on important mortgage trends, and strategic forums to address challenges impacting the mortgage industry.
Barry Habib, an entrepreneur, mortgage industry executive and the founder/CEO of MBA Highway, is a featured speaker at NEMBC 2019. He and other professionals will discuss what a recession could mean for consumers and mortgage professionals, areas for growth in the industry, and the threat of FinTech, a term used to describe the advent of technology driven financial services. Habib is widely recognized for reporting mortgage insights in his Monthly Mortgage Report show, which aired in CNBC’s Squawk Box for more than a decade.
Another featured speaker is Steve Richman of Genworth’s ‘That MI Guy.’ Richman will discuss important consumer and industry trends and how to capitalize on those industry developments. A 20-year mortgage industry veteran, Richman previously served as an attorney before working in the mortgage industry. He has presented to thousands of mortgage professionals, represented hundreds of lending institutions, and served as a guest lecturer at Columbia University’s Columbia Business School.
The conference is also providing an opportunity to benefit ‘Homes For Our Troops,’ a non-profit organization dedicated to building homes for veterans injured while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Event organizers hope to reach its $10,000 fundraising goal by the conclusion of NEMBC 2019.
This year’s sponsors include:
Arch MI, Chase, Correspondent Lending, Data Facts, Ditech, Embrace Home Loans, Essent Guaranty, Inc., Fannie Mae, FHL Bank Boston, Flagstar Bank, Freedom Mortgage, GCE, Genworth Financial, Money 360, Mr. Cooper, National MI, Radian, and Texas Capital Bank.
Professionals interested in attending are encouraged to register online. More information about NEMBC is available online.
