Steve Tetzner Appointed to Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center’s Board of Directors

Providence, RI (October 24, 2016) – Steve Tetzner, President of Homestar Mortgage in Providence, RI has been unanimously appointed for a two-year term to the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center’s Board of Directors. Nominated by a previous director, Tetzner will sit on the Fundraising Committee.

The Elizabeth Buffum Chace (EBC) Center was founded in 1979 to address the need for local services for battered women. Since that time, the agency has grown from a safe shelter to also include court advocacy, counseling, support groups, housing and other services that are so necessary for victims and their children who are leaving an abusive situation. The EBC Center works with over 3,000 individuals each year in 15 cities and towns throughout Central RI.

The Board of Directors plays an integral role in helping victims to attain healthy and productive lives by supporting the fundraising events, helping to shape policy and guide the direction of the services, sharing and distributing information about the issue and our resources within their own circles and, in general, acting as informed stewards of the organization.

With 21 years of experience and over $1 billion in overall mortgage volume, Stephen Tetzner is a recognized leader in the mortgage industry. He is a founding partner of Homestar Mortgage, which he began with his father, Carl over 20 years ago. He was recently ranked the number one mortgage originator in Rhode Island, and is the 29th most successful loan producer nationwide. He was recognized by Top Agent Magazine as a Top Mortgage Professional in 2015. Steve is a past president of the RI Mortgage Bankers Association, and has served on its Board of Directors for several years.

As chair of the RI Mortgage Bankers Association’s Legislative Committee, Steve was personally involved in the drafting of language regarding loan officer licensing, and was instrumental in creating the landmark predatory lending legislation. He regularly appears on The Money Pros on FOX Providence, and has contributed to Real Estate Insights on 920 WHJJ. Steve studied Finance at the University of Rhode Island and is active in several charitable organizations, including the Narragansett Lions Club, Toys for Tots Program, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, and the Jason Douglas Foreman Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
